Covenant Home Care will assist in finding available funding for your home health care, whether it be through Medicare, Medicaid (Medical Assistance), the Older Americans Act, the Veterans Administration, Social Services Block Grant programs, community organizations, secondary insurance, workers’ compensation, self pay, county-waivered programs and managed care.
To
qualify for Medicare Home Health Care benefits you must be homebound on
admission and during care. Your doctor must determine that you need skilled
medical care in your home and prepare a plan for your care at home.
Homebound means:
- you are unable to leave your home or,
- leave your home takes considerable and taxing effort and,
- if you leave your home, it must be infrequently, and for short durations
You may leave your home for doctor’s appointments. You may still be considered homebound if you occasionally go to the barber shop or beauty shop, or short walk or drive but if:
- leave your home often for social activities
- go to adult day-care for non-medical reasons
- regularily run errands, such as grocery shopping
You may not be eligible for home health care. Medicare only covers those eligible for Medicare, and only skilled intermittent care, not continuous care.
You can only receive home health care from a Medicare-certified home health care agency. Covenant Home Care is a fully Medicare-certified home health care agency.
